I’m a Dr in medical science specialising in biostatistics and bioinformatics. I currently work as a postdoctoral research fellow and unit coordinator/lecturer of clinical bioinformatics (new masters unit so I created the content). Not so long ago in 2018, I co-founded R-Ladies Perth, where we ran a series of free workshops/meetups aimed at fostering a neutral, judgement free learning environment, right up until COVID... We're launching again sooo, though you can find some of our free content on YouTube and RPubs ;)

My side hustles involve music, including co-running a music event promotions company, promotions and artist liaison for other promoters' events, and DJing. The biggest event I've played was supporting Flowidus at Metro City Sept 2020 for 1300 pax at half capacity event (right out of Stage 3 restrictions), though in my 1.5 years on the decks, I've played 16 other events.

Our company, Remedy Promotions, which I run with Defyre, started as a bit of a joke early in isolation. See, I travel a lot for my science/stats things and go check out local gigs by myself when I do, and I'd just spent a month in Brisbane when COVID hit. Obviously I thought my Perth DJ friends were going to be better than my new Brisbane DJ mates, because Perth DnB... But I don't think anyone realised the caliber of DJs hidden in our cities, because they always focus on internationals (which after 18months, we only just started getting back). So, after interest from a few other cities, a 7 part series occurred in 2020, streaming DnB DJ battles between different Australian city crews in isolation. I also do the budgeting, design (all stills, half video), marketing and bookings in our business, though I work with another who’s a legend in the game and has his own design business, so it's not without input. Basically, I have a wide range of expertise and skills that may be of interest for your study, work project or hobbie, including: ~8 years tutoring at the high school to university postgraduate level in biology, genetics and mathematics/statistics; plus additional expertise in event and venue management, design (editing photo stills and videos, producing videos), project management, customer service, DJing, sass, and having fun!.
